Symbolic marathon held in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, July 18, 2025 (BSS)- A symbolic marathon, a long-distance foot 
race, was held in Meherpur district today (Friday) on the occasion of "July 
Uprising Day".

Deputy Commissioner of the district Sifat Mehnaz formally inaugurated the 
event as the chief guest.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tariqul Islam, Additional District 
Magistrate Tajwa Sakapi Ibne Sajjad, Additional Superintendent of Police 
Jaminur Rahman, Government College Teachers Council's general secretary and 
associate professor Khedmat Ali Malita, Education Officer Hazrat Ali, Sports 
Officer Arif Hossain, Information Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, were present, 
among others, at the time.
 
The marathon started in front of the Technical Training Center (TTC) and 
ended at the District Commissioner's office after passing through the Wabda-
College intersection in the city. 

More than 300 athletes of different ages participated in the marathon. Prizes 
were distributed among the participants after completion of the marathon.
