Nepal beat Bhutan again in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship

DHAKA, July 19, 2025 (BSS)- Meena Deuba and Purnima Rai slammed a brilliant hat-trick each as Nepal registered their fourth victories in the SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship thrashing Bhutan by 8-0 goals in their return match held at Bashundhara Kings practice ground-2 in the capital today (Saturday).

Nepal took 6-0 lead at the breather.  

In the proceeding, Meena Deuba scored hat-trick with three goals in the 1st, 12th and 65th minutes and Purnima also scored hat-trick with three goals in the 23rd, 45th+1st and 46+6th minutes while Samikshya Magar and Kusum Khatiwada supported them with a lone goal for Nepal in the 9th and 63rd minutes respectively for Nepal in the one-sided affairs. 

With this win, Nepal raised their tally to 12 points from five matches (equal with Bangladesh who also have 12 points from four matches) while Bhutan remained at their previous collection of three points playing the same number of outings.

Earlier, Nepal beat Bhutan 6-1, suffered 3-2 defeat to Bangladesh, thrashed Sri Lanka 7-0 and again beat Sri Lanka 7-0 in the return match. 

While Bhutan suffered 1-6 defeat to Nepal, beat Sri Lanka 5-0, suffered 4-1 defeat to Bangladesh and against 3-0 defeat to the same opponent in the return match.    

Nepal will play against Bangladesh while Bhutan meet Sri Lanka in their last respective matches of the championship scheduled to be held on Monday (July 21).
