DHAKA, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh's hope of playing the Asian Cup final round crumbled after they suffered a massive 5-0 goal defeat to upper-ranked Chinese Taipei in their ultimate do-or-die match of the 2026 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualification held at Aqaba Development Corporation Stadium in Jordan on Friday night.

The U-17 team played two warm-up matches in the United Arab Emirates before the tournament. Despite the positive preparation in the UAE, Bangladesh could not win a single match in the Asian Cup qualifying tournament after playing out a 1-1 draw with host Jordan in the opening group match.

Chinese Taipei scored the first goal early in the 9th minute and doubled the lead in the 34th minute.

Back with a 2-0 lead, Taipei added three more goals in the second half to register their second successive victory and confirm their place in the final round of the tournament.

Only the champions of the group will qualify for the final round of the Asian Cup.
