DHAKA, Oct 20, 2025 (BSS) - West Indies left-arm spinner Khary Pierre 
emphasized on coping with the wicket what is provided for them as his side 
look to bounce back from the defeat in the first ODI against Bangladesh. 

The pitch of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium hogged the spotlight 
for its black soil that assisted the spinners and carry low bounce, making 
life tougher for the batters.

"Well, as I said, the surface is spinner-friendly, but we have to play on any 
wicket that is provided for us and most importantly we have to adapt," Pierre 
said ahead of the second ODI, which will take place tomorrow (Monday) at 
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. 

"So the wicket, it doesn't matter about the wicket anymore. It's about 
playing the game and playing the game the right way, adapting to the 
conditions," he added.

Pierre said they also played on similar kind of wicket back at home and saw 
adapting a main challenge in Bangladesh condition. 

"Back home also, there are similar wickets, but as I said, we have to adapt 
quickly. Coming here and seeing the wickets, it is spinner-friendly," he 
said.

"You want to put the ball in the right areas, but as you said, it's a lot of 
pressure if you don't do well on these kinds of surfaces," he said, adding 
that he will try to stick to his plan.

"So I just try to keep it simple and stick to my plans. I think once you put 
the ball in the right areas, do not go wicket hunting."

"I think it will be best suitable for the wicket. From the time you want to 
go wicket hunting, then you can leak runs. So I just tend to keep it simple, 
as you can see. I just try to put the ball in the right areas, keep it tight 
and try not to let the batsman make the mistake," he concluded.
