DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - Two contrasting knock from Soumya Sarkar and lower order batter Rishad Hossain guided Bangladesh to a challenging 213-7 in their second game against West Indies at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

On a sluggish pitch, opener Soumya held together the innings by hitting a patient 89 ball-45 before Rishad gave a whirlwind finish with 14 ball-39 runs knock.

Their combined effort helped Bangladesh propel past 200-run mark, which is considered as winning total in this kind of wicket.

Bangladesh are leading the series 1-0 following their 74-run victory in the first match. A victory in this match will confirm the series for them.

After opting to bat first, Bangladesh lost opener Saif Hasan (6) and Towhid Hridoy (12), the half-centurion of the previous match, cheaply but Soumya somehow managed to stay in the crease on tough wicket even though he ticked the scoreboard slowly.

The likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mahidul Islam Ankon who made 15 and 17 runs respectively couldn’t exactly get going.

Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein removed Soumya after Bangladesh went past 100.
However, skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz took the onus as Bangladesh lost wickets at regular interval that left them in precarious situation.

But the arrival of Rishad injected a spark as he came down heavily on West Indies bowlers to help the side propel past 200.

Rishad struck three fours and as many sixes in his 14 ball-39 not out. Miraz, on the other hand, was unbeaten on 32 after hitting just one boundary in 58 balls.

Gudakesh Motie was the most successful bowler for West Indies with 3-44 while Akeal and Alick Athanaze who gave away just 14 runs in 10 overs, picked up two wickets apiece.
