DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain continued to
create records in the ODI format.
In Bangladesh's 74-run victory over West Indies in the first match, Rishad
returned astonishing figures of 6-35, which was best bowling by a Bangladeshi
spinner in ODI format and also was second best bowling by a Bangladeshi
bowler behind Mashrafe Bin Mortaza's 6-26 against Kenya in 2006.
In the second ODI against the same team at the same venue today, he smashed
an unbeaten 39 runs, which helped Bangladesh propel past the 200-run mark.
His 39 not out was second best for Bangladesh in this match behind Soumya
Sarkar's 45.
The 39 runs might not be a big deal for a tail-ender batter but Rishad's
knock was invaluable in this aspect that it came off just 14 balls and he
struck three fours and as many sixes.
His strike rate was 278.57 in this knock, which is best by a Bangladesh
batter in an innings more than 25 runs.
The record for the highest strike rate for Bangladeshis batter was held by
former captains Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan.
Mashrafe scored an unbeaten 44 runs off 16 balls against Kenya in Bogura in
2006. The strike rate was 275.00.
In 2014, Shakib also hit an unbeaten 44 runs off 16 balls against Pakistan in
Mirpur.
