Rishad makes giant stride in ICC rankings

DHAKA, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS)—Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rishad Hossain made a huge leap in the ICC’s weekly rankings for the ODI bowlers following his incredible performance in the ongoing three-match series against West Indies at home. 

Rishad who took nine wickets so far in the first two matches, including a record-breaking 6-35 has moved up 65 places in the rankings and currently tied with UAE's Junaid Siddique and Oman's Kalim Sana at 66th position.

Bangladesh's captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has leapfrogged six places to 18th in the ODI bowlers' rankings. Miraz is Bangladesh's top bowler in ODI rankings at this moment. However, the off-spinner has taken just one wicket in two matches in the series. Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed has moved up 16 places to 71st following his two wickets in the second game.

Towhid Hridoy has leapt seven places to 35th in the ODI batters rankings. Hridoy has scored 63 runs at an average of 31.50 in two matches against the West Indies, including one fifty. Soumya Sarkar, who made 49 runs in two matches, has advanced five places to 86th.

Pakistan's left-arm spinner Noman Ali has moved up four places to 2nd in the Test bowlers' rankings. 

Noman claimed 10 wickets in South Africa's two innings in the Lahore Test. He also snapped up two wickets in South Africa's first innings in the ongoing Rawalpindi Test. Noman is only 29 rating points behind India’s Jasprit Bumrah, who leads the Test bowlers' rankings with 882 rating points. This is Noman’s best position in the bowlers' rankings in his Test career.

Pacer Shaheen Afridi, who grabbed four wickets in South Africa's second innings in the Lahore Test, has jumped three places to 19th. In the Test batters’ rankings, Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan has moved up four places to 16th after scoring a fifty in Pakistan's first innings in the Lahore Test.
