Joty, Sobhana rise in rankings despite Tigresses' WC downfall

DHAKA, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS)-Some Bangladesh Women's team batters made a significant rise in the ICC rankings despite the side's early exit from the ongoing Cricket World Cup.

Sobhana Mostary, a middle order batter of Bangladesh batter climbed 13 places to reach 57th position after registering a half-century against Australia.

Despite her 80 ball-66, Bangladesh failed to prevent them from losing the game by 10 wickets against the defending champions.

Sharmin Akter Supta and skipper Nigar Sultana Joty have also made a leap in the rankings. Supta, now Bangladesh's highest-ranked batter, leapfrogged two places to 29th, while Joty rose two spots to 34th.

The three batters however led the chart for Bangladesh with Supta so far scoring highest 176 runs. Sobhana followed her with 169 runs while Joty made 148.

Bangladesh beat Pakistan by seven wickets for their only victory in six matches so far in the marquee event. They will play their final match of the World Cup against India on October 26 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
