Bangladesh play 5-5 draw with Chinese Taipei

DHAKA, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh women's hockey team played out to an 
exciting 5-5 goal draw with Chinese Taipei in their opening group match of 
Women's Asian Games Qualifying Hockey held in Jakarta, Indonesia today 
(Thursday).

In the proceeding, Bangladesh captain Orpita Paul scored hat-trick with three 
goals in the 10th, 17th and 44th minutes while she was well supported by 
Airin Riya and Kona Akter who scored one goal each in the 8th and 40th 
minutes respectively. 

Bangladesh, which pitted in Group A along with Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and 
Hong Kong, will play against Uzbekistan tomorrow (Friday) and Hong Kong on 
Sunday (April 26).

The top four teams from the qualifiers will earn places in the final round of 
the Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Japan in September.
