Open and Junior Tennis Tournament begins tomorrow

DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS)-Shahjalal Islami Bank Open and Junior Tennis tournament begins tomorrow (Thursday) at National Tennis Complex in the city’s Ramna area.

This year’s tournament will feature more than 190 tennis players from across the country.

Among the participating clubs are the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP), National Tennis Complex, and tennis clubs from Jhalkathi, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Madaripur, Jamalpur, Magura, and Shariatpur.

Other notable participating clubs include Gulshan Youth Club, Gulshan Club, Uttara Club, Officers Club, and Engineers Club, among others.

The competition will be held in a total of eight categories  men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, boys’ under-12 singles, girls’ under-12 singles, boys’ under-16 singles, and girls’ under-16 singles. The entire tournament will be conducted in a knockout format.
State Minister for Youth and Sports, Md. Aminul Haque is expected to attend in the closing and prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest on May 20 and distribute prizes among the winners.

In this regards, a press conference was held at the conference room of the National Tennis Complex today (Wednesday) to provide all the details of the meet. 

Bangladesh Tennis Federation general secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed (Karen)  tournament referee Zain Omar  and tournament director Shafiqul Islam Sohel were among others, present in the press conference.
