IM Fahad still maintains solo lead

DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS)-International Master (IM) Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh still maintained his solo lead in the points table with 5.5 points after the seven matches in the FUBY Academy Norm Chess Tournament Series 3 held in Istanbul, Turkey today (Tuesday).

He now needs 1.5 points from his remaining two games to achieve a Grandmaster norm.

In the seventh round matches held today (Tuesday) IM Fahad split point with a Hungarian Grandmaster Sjugirov Sanan. IM Fahad playing with the white pieces in the Italian Game, agreed to a draw with Grandmaster Sanan after twenty six moves.

Earlier, in the sixth round match held on Monday last night, IM Fahad won against CM Akkara Omer of Turkey.
