CHAPAINAWABGANJ, March 28, 2026 (BSS) - Import and export activities at
Sonamasjid Land Port in Chapainawabganj have resumed following a 10-day
suspension due to the holidays marking Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day.

All trade operations remained closed from March 18 to March 27, according to
Tipu Sultan, public relations officer of Panama Sonamasjid Port Link Limited-
- the operator of the port.

He confirmed on Saturday afternoon that regular import-export activities
restarted from the morning of March 28.

Despite the temporary halt in cargo operations, cross-border movement of
passport-holding passengers continued without interruption during the holiday
period.

Jamirul Islam, in-charge of the Sonamasjid Immigration Checkpost, said that
passenger traffic between Bangladesh and India remained normal throughout the
holidays, ensuring uninterrupted travel for those crossing the border.

With the resumption of operations, trade activities at the land port have
returned to their usual pace, bringing relief to businesses dependent on the
route.
