KHAGRACHHARI, Mar 23, 2025 (BSS) – A 16-day colourful traditional Biju festival began in this hill district as part of their New Year celebration, also known as 'Boisabi' celebration.

In collaboration with the Jabarang Kalyan Samity and TAMS Project, Khagrachhari Women Entrepreneurs Network organized the fair on Surjo Shikha Club premises in the district.

Khagrachhari Hill District Council member Shefalika Tripura inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.

Biju, the biggest festival of the 11 ethnic minorities in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) has been observing for long time successively.

Different ethnic groups call the festival by different names. The Chakma call it Biju while the Tanchangya refers it as Bishu, the Tripura says it Baisu and the Marma utters it the festival Sangrai.
