DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS)-Netherlands captain Scot Edwards urged his side to come up with good performance to beat Bangladesh in the three-match T20 International series.

Speaking to the Bangladeshi media for the first time after their arrival here, Edwards said they believe they are capable to winning the series.

"Yeah, absolutely (believe we can win the series)," Edwards said in Sylhet today. "I think you always go into every series trying to win. We expect to play good cricket, and if we play well enough, absolutely, we've got a chance."

The Netherlands cricket team is touring Bangladesh for the first time for a bilateral series.

"Very exciting. To get the opportunity to play here is amazing," Edwards said, adding that the series will serve them proper preparation for the next year's ICC T20 World Cup.

"It's a great warm-up for us heading into the World Cup and also for Bangladesh before the Asia Cup. So, very excited," he noted.
Despite keeping trust on their ability, Edwards acknowledged the difficulties they are going to face against Bangladesh.

"It's obviously a tough series. Bangladesh are very strong in Bangladesh, many countries come here and struggle. We know it's going to be tough and we have to put our best foot forward," he opined.

Netherlands played five T20 matches against Bangladesh and won just one, which came in 13 years ago.

But they upset Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Asked whether that victory, albeit in different format, will give them confidence, Edwards answered, "Yes and no."

"It's a different format and country, but winning games always boosts confidence. Both teams have changed, but we're confident and looking forward to it," he concluded.
