MANIKGANJ, March 26, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration celebrated Independence and the National Day in the district with due respect.

The programmes of the day was started with 31 gun salutes early in the morning and hoisting of the national flags atop all government, semi-government and private buildings, placing the floral wreaths at the Martyred Freedom Fighters Memorial ('Shaheed Muktijoddha Smriti Stambha)' paying rich tribute to martyrs of the War of Liberation.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manwar Hossein Malla placed the floral wreaths at the Martyred Freedom Fighters Memorial first.

Superintendent of Police Yasmin Khatun, Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Mehedi Hasan, Administrator of Manikganj Municipality Sanjida Jesmin and all departmental heads and people of all walks of lives placed floral wreaths at the memorial. 
 
Reception to the heroic Freedom Fighters and a discussion on historic Liberation War and distribution of prizes were held on the occasion.
 
Besides, special prayers were offered at mosques, temples and other places of religious worship for eternal peace of the departed souls of martyred of the War of Liberation and progress and welfare of the nation and its people.
 
The programmes of the day included providing improved diets to inmates of hospitals, jail and Government Shishu Paribar at the Iftar.
