BANDARBAN, Mar 26, 2025 (BSS)-  Laxmipad Das, the general secretary of the Bandarban district Awami League, was arrested in Dhaka on Monday during a special drive conducted by Mirpur police.

Abdul Karim, Additional Police Super (crime and operations) of Bandarban district confirmed about the arrest.

Das, 54, a resident of Rajamhat area in Ward no-4 of Bandarban Paurasova, was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court today under tight security.

After a preliminary hearing, Senior Judge Fatema-Tuz-Johra ordered to send him to jail.

Police said Das is an accused of five cases related to alleged terrorist activities during student movements in July-August 2024.
