50 kg of venison seized from Sundarbans

KHULNA, March 27, 2025 (BSS) - Forest officials today seized 50 kg of venison along with a boat from the Mayer Khal area of the Sundarbans of Khulna. 

Md Anwar Hossain, Officer of the Kobadok Forest Station under the Satkhira Range of the West Forest Division said that while patrolling the area, a team of forest guards spotted a group of poachers and challenged them. 

Sensing the presence of the guards, the poachers jumped into the river and fled, leaving behind the venison and the boat. 

Following a court order, the venison was disposed of by burying it in the mud. 

Process is underway to file a case with the local police station under forest act in this connection, Md Anwar Hossain added.
