CHANDPUR, April 5, 2025 (BSS)- An elderly man was killed after being hit by a 
speeding CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Debpur Gogra area on the Chandpur-Cumilla 
regional road under Hajiganj upazila of the district on Friday night.

The deceased was Md. Nurul Islam, 85, a resident of Debpur Gogra village 
under Hajiganj upazila.

Police said the accident occurred when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, traveling 
from Hajiganj to Chandpur, hit the elderly man around 9:15pm as he was 
crossing the road to perform his prayers, leaving him critically injured. 

Locals rushed him to Chandpur Government General Hospital where on-duty 
doctor declared Nurul Islam's dead. 

Dr. Syed Ahmed, duty doctor of emergency department of the hospital, 
confirmed. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandpur Model Police Station Md. Bahar Mia said 
the body was handed over to his family today after completing all legal 
procedures.
