Minhaj clinches Int'l Blitz Chess title

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS)- International Master Mohammad Minhaj Uddin of 
Bangladesh Navy clinched title of the Arafat Rahman Koko International Blitz 
Chess tournament held at Narayanganj Club cafeteria in Narayanganj today 
(Wednesday).

Minhaj scored six out of seven points and was declared champion on tie-
breaking system, following a tense Swiss League battle.

FIDE Master Naim Haque finished runner-up also securing the equal points 
while FM Khandaker Aminul Islam secured third place. Candidate Master Md Abu 
Hanif claimed fourth spot.

Category wise prizes went to a wide field of competitors. Among them CM Sohel 
Chowdhury, FM Saqlain Mostafa Sajid, FM Sharif Hossain, Raihan Rashid Mugdho, 
Abdul Mannan, CM Monir Hossain, Ahmedul Korib Chowdhury, Moksed Khan, WFM 
Noshin Anjum, Forhadur Rahman Sabab, WFM Warsia Khushbu, Safayet Kibria Ayan, 
Mabrur Raad, Riad Rahman, Md Asaduzzaman and Md Zainal.

Professor Dr Aliar Hossain, Head of Department at Northumbria University, 
London, and president of Dandy Foundation was the chief guest in the closing 
ceremony and distributed the prizes.

Guest of Honour Barrister Moin Firozi, member of the Constitution Reform 
Commission, joined the event alongside several distinguished personalities in 
the ceremony.

A total of seventy two players, including one International Master, six FIDE 
Masters, two Women FIDE Masters, three Candidate Masters, and other rated 
players, took part seven-round Swiss league format, organised by the Dandy 
Foundation.

Cash prize of Taka 41,000 was given to the winners' of the competition.
