Two killed in Sirajganj road accident

SIRAJGANJ, April 6, 2025 (BSS) - Two people including a child were killed and five others injured as a truck collided with a motor-run passenger van on Dhaka-Bogura highway near the Bhuiyangati Palli Bidyut office at Raiganj upazila here in the district last night.

Police identified the deceased as Mirajul Islam, son of late Abdur Rajjak of Dighalbari village of Ullapara upazila and Susanta Kumar Das, 30, son of Subal Kumar Das of Ghurka Daspara village of Salanga thana.

Bodies of the deceased were sent to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said acting officer in-charge (OC) of Hatikumrul highway police station Md Abdur Rouf.

The police officer said the truck carrying hens was speeding towards Bogura from Dhaka and the passenger van was going towards Ghurka. The head-on collision took place while the two vehicles were crossing the Bhuiyangati Palli Bidyut area, leaving two passengers of the van dead on the spot and five including two women injured.

Of the injured, two persons received primary treatment and three critically injured were rushed to Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital, he said.
