Two-day regional agriculture research-extension review workshop begins in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, May 26, 2025 (BSS) - A two-day regional agriculture research-extension review workshop began today at the seminar room of Jamalpur Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) in the district.

A total of 70 officials from RARS, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), NGOs, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI), Bangladesh Sugarcane Research Institute (BSRI), and Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA) of Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, and Mymensingh districts are taking part in the workshop, organized by Jamalpur RARS.

Experts at the workshop called for disseminating modern food grain varieties and technologies developed by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) at the field level to boost agricultural production.

At the workshop, BARI presented a research report on the results of various crop experiments and demonstrations conducted during 2024-25.

Director (Research) of BARI in Gazipur Dr Munsi Rashid Ahmad inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest, with Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Jamalpur RARS Dr Md Manjurul Kadir in the chair.

Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Mymensingh Region Dr Salma Laizu and former CSO of BARI Dr Md Samsur Rahman attended the workshop as special guests.

In the first session, CSO Dr Md Rajab Ali, Principal Scientific Officer Md Jillur Rahman, Senior Scientific Officer Dr Hafizur Rahman, Dr Md Saidur Rahman, Dr Muhammad Khorshed Alam, Dr Mukaddasul Alam Riad, and Scientific Officer Anwara Akter presented their research reports.
