Govt distributes sheep, goats among Manikganj char people

MANIKGANJ, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - Under the Coordinated Animal Resource 
Development Project, the distribution of sheep and goats started among the 
poor people of the char areas in the district. 

As part of the programmes, a total of 57 sheep were distributed among 19 poor 
people of Teota union under Shibalaya upazila of the district. Each of them 
got three rams for rearing.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Zakir Hossain and Upazila Animal Resource 
Officer Md. Mahbubur Rahman distributed the rams among the 19 listed people.

District Livestock Officer Dr. Mohammad Mojibur Rahman said the government 
has taken a massive programme to develop the life of poor people in the char 
areas of the country rearing rams, goats, ducks and hens as an income 
generating initiative.

He said 8,800 people of Harirampur, Shibalaya, Daulatpur, Ghior and Saturia 
upazilas are getting three rams or two goats or 20 ducks or 25 hens for 
rearing. 

In addition, people will also get a shed and three months feed for ducks and 
hens free of cost, Mojibur Rahman informed.


It is a new project taken by the present government for the development of 
the people under char areas in the country, he added.
