CHATTOGRAM, May 27, 2025 (BSS)-Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Rapid 
Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested the brother and nephew of top fugitive 
criminal Sajjad Ali, also known as Boro Sajjad, in connection with the recent 
murder of alleged gangster Ali Akbar, known as Dhakaiya Akbar in Patenga, 
Chattogram.

The arrests took places in a series of drives on Monday night in the city's 
Panchlaish area. Patenga thana police arrested Sajjad's elder brother, Osman 
Ali, while his nephew, Md Alvin, was detained during a raid conducted by RAB-
7.

OC Shafiqul Islam of Patenga thana and RAB assistant director Mozzafar 
Hossain confirmed to BSS.

Ali Akbar was shot around 8:30 pm on 23 May while socializing with friends at 
Patenga sea beach area. The critically injured Ali Akbar died while 
undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital on 25 May. 

Akbar's wife, Rupali Begum, filed a murder case with Patenga thana against 11 
persons.

Sajjad Ali was an accused on Bahaddarhat eight murder case on 12 July 2000.
