TANGAIL, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - The distribution of rice under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha has started in Mirzapur municipality of the district.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer A.B.M. Ariful Islam inaugurated the rice distribution programme among the poor people of the wards no 1, 2 and 3 from the municipality office today.

A total of 4,621 poor people of nine wards of the municipality will get the rice before Eid.

Each family will receive 10 kilograms of rice.

The municipality administrator Masudur Rahman presided over the event, and among others, the municipality BNP president Hazrat Ali Miah, general secretary S.M. Mohsin, vice president Ali Azam Siddiqui, upazila agricultural extension officer Zahidul Islam, municipal executive officer Shafiqul Islam, were present.

The municipality accounts officer Abul Hasanat Akon said that the rice will be distributed among the residents of six wards in phases tomorrow, Thursday and Friday.
