CCC to set up international standard nursing institute: City Mayor

CHATTOGRAM, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - City Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain announced that the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will establish an international standard nursing institute in Chattogram.

Considering the national requirements the CCC will establish a world-class institute to enhance skilled human resources in the nursing sector," he added.

He made the announcement while visiting CCC run Midwifery Institute at city's Firingi Bazar on Wednesday.

During the visit, the mayor was briefed on the educational activities of the institute's students, identified infrastructural limitations and acknowledged the shortage of manpower. He assured to resolve these problems quickly. 

Dr Shahadat Hossain highlighted the significant role played by the CCC-run Midwifery Institute in promoting mental and child health through the training of skilled midwives.

"We aim to build on this success. If necessary, nurses will receive training at an international standard by inviting trainers with experience from advanced countries in the nursing sector like Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Indonesia," he said. 

He also emphasized that Chattogram is not only a commercial hub but also aspires to be a healthcare model. 

Chief Health Officer CCC Dr Md Imam Hossain Rana, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman and other relevant officials were present during the visit.
