Woman bank officer killed in Khulna road mishap

KHULNA, May 29, 2025 (BSS) – A woman bank officer was killed in a tragic road accident at Mohammad Nagar area under Labanchara police station in the city last night.

The deceased was identified as Afroza Ambia Khanom, 42, principal officer of Sonali Bank’s KDA New Market Branch in the city.

Police and locals said, the accident took place at around 9.00 pm yesterday at Biswa Road when a battery run Easy Bike knocked her when she was crossing the road near her residence just after coming from her office from another Easy Bike.

Being hit by the Easy Bike, Afroza fell down on the street. The local people immediately took her to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) with serious injuries where doctor declared her dead, Dr Shamim, Medical Officer of KMCH Emergency Ward confirmed.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md Yousuf Ali of Labanchara Police Station said the woman bank officer was crossing the road in front of her residence after coming from duty.

Her sexagenarian mother and daughter became very sick after hearing the tragic death at KMCH, the OC said adding that the body was handed over to the family member today after autopsy.
