KISHOREGANJ, Aug 9, 2025 (BSS) - A tourist drowned today in Nikli Haor of the district while visiting the area with friends.
The deceased was identified as Bananta Islam, 23, son of Ashraful Islam of Thanthania Shahidnagar village in Sadar upazila of Bogura district.
Locals said Bananta drowned around 1:30 pm near Chhatirchar Karchaban while bathing with friends.
His body was later recovered.
Bananta's cousin Alif said, "Bananta did not know how to swim. We were all walking in waist-deep water when suddenly we saw Bananta drowning. I tried to save him but failed."
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nikli Police Station Kazi Arif Uddin confirmed the incident.
