4.8 lakh yaba seized in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Aug 15, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 4,80,000 pieces of yaba alongside Ukhiya border in Cox's Bazar last night.

BGB-64 commander in Ukhiya, lieutenant colonel Mohammad Jashim Uddin confirmed the matter this morning.

On information of drug smuggling from Myanmar, a BGB team took strategic position near Katakhal area. Around 8:00pm, the team noticed a group of seven people near Dam in Bangladesh end. As soon as the drug peddlers sensed the presence of the BGB team, they immediately fled the scene while leaving four bags on the spot.

Later the BGB team recovered 4,80,000 pieces of yaba from the bags.

A general diary has been lodged with Ukhiya thana in this regard and the seized contraband has been handed over to the police station, said the BGB commander.
