KHULNA, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) today fined Lazz Pharma Tk 5 lakh for marketing and selling counterfeit medicines in the city.

A DNCRP team, led by its Khulna Deputy Director Md Selim, carried out the raid at Lazz Pharma, a major medicine outlet located at the Royal intersection this afternoon, according to a press release issued by the Khulna DNCRP.

The operation revealed that the pharmacy had long been promoting and selling an anti-itch drug falsely branded as an imported product from the Philippines.

Investigations found that the medicine was actually manufactured by a fraudulent company, Adorabella Health Care, based in Jhenaidah.

Following the seizure, DNCRP imposed a fine of Tk 5 lakh on the pharmacy and warned of further legal consequences if such malpractice continued.

The penalties were imposed under different sections of the Consumer Rights Protection Act - Tk 2 lakh under Section 41, Tk 2 lakh under Section 44 and Tk 1 lakh under Section 50, the release added.
