One held in city, stolen private car seized from Chattogram

DHAKA, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested a car lifter with a stolen private car in the capital's Sabujbagh area.
 
The arrested has been identified as Md. Palash Mia, 29.
 
A team of Sabujbagh Thana Police arrested Palash with a stolen private car in a raid conducted in Sabujbagh on Sunday, said a police press release.
 
Following information extracted from Palash, the lifted Corolla Fielder car was recovered from the road in front of the Education Board in Muradpur under Panchlaish Police Station of Chittagong on Sunday, it also said.
 
The silver-colored Corolla Fielder private car worth about Taka 22 lakh owned by a person named Md. Abul Basar was given to Palash to drive on a monthly rent of Taka 28,000.
 
He used to drive the car regularly and go on trips to different parts of the country. The car was kept in a garage in Paschim Madartek under Sabujbagh Thana. Palash had an outstanding rent of Taka 56,000 for the last two months.
 
On July 31, 2025, around 7:30 pm, Palash Mia called the owner and told him that he was in Chittagong with the car and would meet him when he returned to Dhaka.
 
Since then, his mobile number has been switched off and it has not been possible to contact him.
 
In this connection incident, a regular case was registered with Sabujbagh Police Station based on the complaint of Md. Abul Basar.
