Police investigation officers urged to attain knowledge on mobile financing

RAJSHAHI, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) - Police officials urged their field-level 
subordinate investigation officers to attain knowledge about mobile financing 
services for tackling its fraudulence through bringing those involved in the 
malpractices to book.

Integrated efforts of the mobile banking institutions and police should come 
forward and work together to bring the fraudulent to book. 

The police officials made the observations while addressing a daylong 
workshop titled "Prospects and Contemporary Challenges of Mobile Financing 
Service in Bangladesh" here today.

Mobile Banking Institution Nagad Limited organized the workshop jointly 
supported by Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and the Office of Deputy 
Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Rajshahi Range at the conference hall of 
RMP Headquarter.

With Mahabub Alam, Chief Strategic Relation Operation Officer of Nagad 
Limited, in the chair, the meeting was addressed by DIG Dr Muhammad Shahjahan 
and RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufiyan as chief and special guests 
respectively.
 
Mahabub Alam said the mobile financial service has become an integral part of 
daily life of people in line with advances in technology. Nagad Limited has 
been working with police closely and providing necessary support, including 
KYC information and transaction statements, to the police investigation 
officers.

He also said this type of workshop will strengthen the support and police 
will be benefited in the field of facing challenges.  

DIG Muhammad Shahjahan the extent of fraudulences has been enhanced amid 
rising mobile financial services. The workshop will make the investigation 
officers more competent. 

Prof Ziaul Haque from Rajshahi University and Superintendent of Police 
Mahbubul Alam from Dhaka Staff College conducted the training sessions as 
resource persons disseminating their expertise on the issue.
