RANGPUR, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) - On the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja celebrations in Rangpur, a discussion meeting on security of places of worship, maintenance of law and order and relevant issues was held here today.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal presided over the meeting held at his conference room.
In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner said that Sharadiya Durga Puja is the biggest festival of the Sanaton community.
On this occasion, the law and order forces and local administrations must perform their assigned duties with devotion to maintain peace and order at the Puja mandaps and surrounding areas.
He sought the cooperation of all those present to be vigilant to avoid any untoward incidents before, during and after the idol immersion.
"The police, along with intelligence members and quick response teams, will be ready at all times to deal with any untoward situation," he said.
He told the members of the Puja celebration committee members that the administration, police and everyone, regardless of religion or caste, are ready to cooperate in celebrating the autumn Durga Puja peacefully and safely.
He advised not to listen to rumors in addition to resisting those who destroy harmony in Bangladesh, a country of communal harmony.
He also said that along with lighting on the stage, CCTV cameras will be installed to ensure security.
To deal with any untoward situation, he suggested hanging the mobile phone numbers of the responsible officials of the law enforcement agencies and fire service at the Puja mandap so that people can easily contact them.
He emphasized on ensuring the constant presence of male and female volunteer team members at every Puja mandap and arranging separate entry and exit routes for male and female visitors.
He sought cooperation of all concerned in celebrating Durga Puja in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
Government officials, leaders of various political parties, members of law enforcement agencies, members of district and upazila Puja celebration committees, and journalists were present at the meeting.
