Archaeological exploration activities inaugurated in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) – Archaeological survey and exploration activities have begun in four upazilas — Kachua, Mongla, Chitalmari, and Sharankhola — of the district in the fiscal year 2025-2026.

The programme, under the Office of the Regional Director of Khulna and Barisal Divisions, started on Monday in Kachua upazila.

Kachua Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ali Hasan inaugurated the survey programme on the premises of the ancient Moghia Kali Temple, with Regional Director of Khulna and Barisal Division Lovely Yasmin in the chair.

Assistant Director of the Regional Office Md Mohidul Islam, Custodian of Bagerhat Museum Md Zayed, Assistant Custodian of Michael Madhusudan Dattabari Md Hasanuzzaman, Assistant Custodian of Barisal Divisional Museum Md Arifur Rahman, Marksman of the Regional Office Md Enamul Haque, and Photoprinter Md Raihan, among others, were present at the event.

Lovely Yasmin said archaeological survey and exploration activities will be conducted in four upazilas of Bagerhat district in phases.

Md Ali Hasan said they have already visited 15 sites, including the Moghia Kali Bari Temple in seven unions of the upazila, and sent the report to the ministry.
