CHATTOGRAM , Sept 16, 2025 ( BSS) - RAB-7 here yesterday arrested a fugitive father and stepmother for murdering their son from Dakkhin Surma thana of Sylhet district. 

A RAB-7 team detained father Nuruzzaman , 65, and his second wife Anowara Begum from Dakkhin Surma thana area on Monday night on charges of killing their son Mohammad Shahed , 24, RAB-7 and Mirsharai police sources said. 

Both detainees were on the run after killing Shahed, a 7th semester student of Computer Science and Engineering Department at International Islamic University, Chattogram and the only son of Nuruzzaman and Kamruzzahan Begum.  

According to sources, father Nuruzzaman indiscriminately stabbed his only son Md Shahed leaving Shahed dead on the spot in Ghari Market area of Mayani union under Mirsharai upazila of the district as Shahed protest his father’s second marriage. 

Later, Kamruzzahan Begum, the mother of Shahed filed a case with Mirsharai police accusing Nuruzzaman and others for killing her son. 

OC of Mirsharai Police Station Atiqur Rahman said RAB-7 team could able to detain Nuruzzaman and his second wife Anowara Begum by tracing out their location through mobile tracking device. The detainees are being brought to Chattogram from Sylhet.
