One held in Lama for attacking police

COX’S BAZAR, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS) – Police arrested a person for carrying out attack on police in the Moheshkhali area and seized three firearms at Lama Upazila in Bandarban early today.

“Acting on secret information, we conducted a special drive at Lama upazila at 1 am and arrested Abu Syed, 25, the main accused of carrying out the attack on police on the night of September 11,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Saifuddin Shahin while addressing a press briefing at his office this afternoon.

Law enforcers also recovered three firearms from his possession.

Earlier, a gang led by Abu Syed fired on patrol police at about 12am on September 11 at Afzaliapara in Kalarmarchara union of Moheshkhali upazila. During the attack, ASI Selim Mia and Constables Sohel Rana and Masud Hossain received severe injuries.
Later, a case was filed with Moheshkhali Police Station in this regard.

Police said several cases were pending against him at the police station.

The accused was produced before the court today.
