Preparatory meeting for celebrating Durga Puja held in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - A preparatory meeting was held in the district today ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community.

The meeting took place at 10 am at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jahirul Islam in the chair.

Addressing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nayan Kumar Rajbangshi said Durga Puja will be celebrated at 112 mandaps across the district this year.

Of these, 35 mandaps will be set up in Alamdanga upazila, 21 in Damurhuda, 25 in Jibannagar, and 31 in Sadar upazila.

To ensure overall security, members of the law enforcement agencies including police, RAB, BGB, and the army will conduct constant patrols throughout the celebration period. He also informed that all idol immersion activities must be completed by 7 pm.

Speaking at the meeting, Additional Superintendent of Police Jamal Al Naser said that 80 percent of the district police force will be engaged in maintaining law and order during Durga Puja. A total of 790 personnel will be deployed at different levels across the district.

The meeting was also addressed by Chuadanga BGB-6 Camp Commander Lt. Col. Nazmul Hasan, Chuadanga Army Camp Commander Lt. Col. Fahad Ahmed Abir, District Commandant of Ansar Battalion Faruk Islam, former Principal of Chuadanga Government College Siddiqur Rahman, Dr. Martin Hirak Chowdhury, President of Alamdanga Upazila Puja Celebration Committee Amal Biswas, President of Damurhuda Puja Celebration Committee Shovon Das, President of Jibannagar Puja Celebration Committee Jiban Sen, and President of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila Puja Celebration Committee Hemanta Sen.
