KHULNA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - KCC Administrator and Khulna divisional commissioner Md Mokhter Ahmed today stressed healthy eating, regular physical activity, and lifestyle changes to prevent non-communicable diseases.

He expressed concern over rising air pollution in Khulna and urged authorities to take necessary measures.

He also called on teachers to install sanitary vending machines to promote women-friendly environments in educational institutions.

The remarks came as he attended the 6th meeting of the Advisory and Technical Committee of the "Healthy Cities: Urban Governance for Health and Wellbeing in Khulna City Corporation" project, held in the city today.

Implemented with support from DGHS and WHO, the project aims to improve public health through integrated and participatory urban governance.

The meeting reviewed the progress of activities, including awareness programmes in nine schools, improvement of primary healthcare, safe drinking water, menstrual hygiene promotion, and fire safety measures.

Awards were presented to three schools as Health Promoting Schools and to several agencies, including KDA, Khulna WASA, and KMP, for prioritizing health in their annual plans. BD Clean Khulna and NGO SIAM were also recognized for their contributions to cleanliness initiatives and cycling promotion.

KCC Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul Jobbar delivered the welcome address, while Project Programme Officer Asif Ahmed conducted the session.
