KHULNA, Jan 16, 2026 (BSS) - BNP-nominated candidate for Khulna-2 constituency and former city unit BNP president Nazrul Islam Manju has said only a free, fair and acceptable election can transform the country into a democratic and livable state.

He said people must stay alert for a good election, while those responsible for maintaining law and order - particularly at the leadership level - must act with heightened responsibility and vigilance.

Manju was speaking as the chief guest at the annual reunion and discussion meeting of Dakbangla Hawkers' Union at the APC School ground on Thursday afternoon.

Later, he attended a civic mourning meeting and Doa seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia, organized by Ward No. 30 BNP and its associate bodies.

Speaking as the chief guest, Manju said that former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia never compromised in protecting the country's independence and sovereignty.

He noted that the 16-18 years of movement under Khaleda Zia's leadership were aimed at ensuring a credible election.
