LALMONIRHAT, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police seized a large consignment of illegal drugs worth approximately Taka 21 lakh during a raid in Kaliganj upazila of the district early today.

Based on information DB Lalmonirhat sources said the DB team conducted the raid around 4:30 am near Sirajul Market and a covered van was seized in this drive. 

Joint operation conducted by DB Lalmonirhat and Gangachara Police recovered 885 bottles of illegal drugs, including 179 bottles of Escape Syrup, 540 bottles of Phensidyl, and 166 bottles of Fairdeal inside covered van.

Pick-up van driver managed to flee the scene.    

Confirming the incident, Lalmonirhat DB Officer-in-Charge Saad Ahmed said the seized drugs were handed over to Gangachara police. 

Gangachara Police said estimated the market value of the seized drugs to be over Tk 21 lakh.

Efforts are underway to arrest those involved in this matter, Police added.
