NAOGAON, April 25, 2026 (BSS) - A female construction worker killed and six others were injured in a road accident in Raninagar upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mst Jamina, 30, wife of Md. Kamal Hossain, a resident of Harishpur village in the upazila. 

According to local sources, a group of 8 to 10 construction workers was traveling by van from Harishpur to Raninagar for work. The accident occurred when the vehicle overturned near Kounaj Bazar area. Several passengers were seriously injured in the incident.

Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the victims, taking them to Raninagar Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Jamina dead upon arrival. The injured were later referred to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakaria Mondal of Raninagar Police Station confirmed the fatality and said that the injured are currently undergoing treatment.
