Ice cream factory owner fined Tk 1 lakh in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, April 25, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined the owner of a local ice cream factory Tk 1 lakh for producing food in unhygienic conditions and using harmful chemicals in Ranipur area under Sadar upazila of the district.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate S. M. Al-Amin conducted the drive at Roni Ice Cream Factory in the area today. 

During the operation, the court found that ice cream was being produced in a dirty and unsafe environment. Officials also confirmed the use of chemicals considered hazardous to human health, raising serious public health concerns.

The factory owner, Mohammad Rakib, 22, son of Rustam Ali Molla of Ranipur village, was fined Tk 1 lakh under Section 52 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. He will face two months' simple imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
