HABIGANJ, May 16, 2026 (BSS) - A father and his son were killed in a road accident on the Dhuliakhal bypass road in the district tonight.

The deceased were identified as Quiyum Mia, 50, and his son Zakir Mia, 25, residents of the Sultan Mahmudpur area of Habiganj Sadar upazila.

Police and local sources said the accident occurred when they were returning home on a motorbike from the Dhuliakhal area. Their motorbike collided with a roadside truck on the bypass road, leaving them critically injured.

They were taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Habiganj Sadar Police Station Zahidul Huq confirmed the incident, saying police visited the spot after the accident.

Police suspected that poor visibility at night and high speed of the motorbike may have caused the accident.
