DHAKA, May 16, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today said 10 lakh employment opportunities will be created in the country's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in the next five years.

He said the present government is implementing an integrated action plan to make the country's telecommunication sector modern, investment-friendly and future-oriented.

The minister made the remarks as the chief guest while addressing a roundtable titled "Future of the Telecom Sector: What is the Thinking of the New Government," held at Hotel InterContinental in the capital.

The Telecom and Technology Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB) organised the event.

The ICT minister said the government is working on a priority basis to ensure fast internet and technology services reach remote areas to reduce the digital divide.

He said initiatives such as setting up free Wi-Fi zones in different areas, expanding telecom infrastructure and creating technology-based employment are among the key objectives of the government.
