SYLHET, May 28, 2026 (BSS) - Fulfilling its earlier commitment, the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) completely removed sacrificial animal waste within just eight hours despite continuous rain on the day of Eid-ul-Azha today.

Sylhet city administrator Abdul Quiyum Choudhury said the city’s cleanliness was restored by 6pm through the tireless efforts of sanitation workers.

“This achievement has been possible through the joint efforts of sanitation workers and conscious city residents,” he said.

Lesser number of animals was sacrificed in Sylhet compared to Dhaka and Chattogram.

SCC distributed around 30,000 environment-friendly polybags and sufficient bleaching powder while a special hotline number remained active for instant communication with citizens.

Meanwhile, sanitation workers began cleaning waste from cattle markets from Wednesday night.
