DHAKA, May 28, 2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has been successfully carrying out its rapid waste disposal programme on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

A total of 12,684 tonnes of waste had been removed from different areas of the city till 8:30 pm on Eid day, said DSCC Administrator M Abdus Salam while addressing a press briefing at Nagar Bhaban here tonight.

On the first day of Eid, a total of 118,789 sacrificial animals were slaughtered in DSCC areas. The administrator expressed hope that more than 18,000 tonnes of waste would be removed from the city by midnight.

Besides, around 65 percent of the waste generated at DSCC’s temporary cattle markets has already been removed. Waste disposal has been completed in 71 out of the 75 wards under the DSCC area, he added.

Meanwhile, nearly 90 percent of the waste in the remaining four wards has also been cleared, while city corporation cleaners are working relentlessly to complete the task as quickly as possible, he told the briefing.
