Children, parents throng centers to receive Vitamin 'A' capsules in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, June 28, 2025 (BSS)- A large gathering of parents has been observed at various centers throughout Chattogram city from morning until 
afternoon, as they bring their children to receive Vitamin 'A' capsules in celebration of the National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign-2026.
 
This initiative is being implemented concurrently across 41 wards of the city and 15 upazilas within the district. City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain 
officially launched the programme at a center in the city on Sunday morning [June 28]. 

During the inauguration, the Mayor emphasized the significance of the National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign in preventing malnutrition-related 
blindness, enhancing immunity, and ensuring the healthy growth of children. 

He assured that the CCC has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure that no 
child is excluded from this initiative. 

At the program's commencement, the Acting Chief Health Officer of the CCC, Dr. Imam Hossain Rana, provided a welcome address, outlining the campaign's 
objectives, significance, and the overall preparations undertaken by the CCC.
 
As per the Health Department, the campaign aims to administer vitamin 'A' capsules to a total of 842,169 children in Chattogram district, which 
includes 96,079 children aged 6 to 11 months and 746,090 children aged 12 to 59 months. 

To facilitate this programme, 17 permanent and 4,800 temporary vaccination centers have been established across Chattogram district.

Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, the joint secretary of the Health Ministry, inaugurated the event by administering capsules to children at the Chattogram 
University fourth Class Employee Club, located in the Hathazari upazila of the district today. 

Among those present at the event were Chattogram Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, and other senior health department officials and doctors.
 
In total, 562,000 children have been targeted to receive vitamin 'A' capsules in the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) area, which includes 92,000 children 
aged 6 to 11 months and 470,000 children aged 12 to 59 months.

To facilitate this programme, 41 permanent and 1,280 temporary vaccination centers have been established within the city corporation area. 

City Mayor Dr. Shahdat Hossain launched the programme by administering a capsule to a child during the city-level campaign held at Memon Hospital on 
Sunday morning. 

Nurul Amin, superintendent of the West Baklia City Health Center, stated, "We are making efforts to ensure that no child is overlooked."
