Madrasah student drowns in fish enclosure in Khulna

KHULNA, June 28, 2026 (BSS) - A seven-year-old madrasah student drowned in a fish enclosure in Rupsha upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Sijad, son of Murad Sharif of Madina Sarak in Joypur village under Naihati union.

Locals said the child went to take bath in a nearby fish enclosure beside Madina Sarak in Jahirer Bottola area around noon. At one stage, he slipped into deep water and went missing.

Upon learning the incident, locals rescued the child and took him to the Rupsha Upazila Health Complex.

On-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival.

Rupsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzaq Mir confirmed the incident.
