DHAKA, April 29, 2025 (BSS) – 'BanglaFact', a fact-checking and media research unit under the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), has said that the government did not shut down the Deepto TV's news bulletin.

The topic 'The government has shut down Deepto TV's news bulletin for asking controversial questions'  has spread on social media  and this is not true, said the BanglaFact investigation team.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting did not shut down it and this information spread on social media is not true, said SM Akash, senior news editor of Deepto Television.

Akash told BanglaFact, "Our news bulletin is currently closed. This is an internal matter of the management, not an external matter. There is no ban or restriction from the government."

BanglaFact's investigation has revealed that false information is being spread on social media over shutting down the news bulletins and firing two journalists at government intervention.

Banglafact confirmed that, "Television personnel concerned said that the government has no relation with it. There was no pressure from the government in this regard."
