DHAKA, March 26, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo today celebrated the country’s Independence and National Day with due dignity, paying tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War and highlighting Bangladesh’s continued development.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Egypt Samina Naz formally hoisted the national flag at the embassy premises in the presence of officials and staff, marking the beginning of the day’s programme, according to a message received here today.

A special prayer was offered at the embassy’s conference room for the martyrs of the Liberation War, the persecuted women, injured freedom fighters and for the continued peace and prosperity of the country.

Messages from the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out on the occasion.

Addressing a discussion session, the ambassador paid deep tribute to the martyrs and women who suffered during the Liberation War and highlighted the historical background of Bangladesh’s independence struggle.

Referring to the genocide of March 25, 1971, she said it was a heinous attempt to deprive Bangladesh of its leadership and intellectual base.

She also underscored Bangladesh’s ongoing progress under the leadership of the present government and called upon all to perform their respective responsibilities sincerely to advance the country, keeping the vision of “Bangladesh First” in mind.
