BOGURA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Noor Mohammad Abu Taher has said that establishing a society based on justice by ending long-standing misrule and discrimination is his party’s main objective in the Bogura-3 (Adamdighi–Dupchanchia) constituency.
In an interview with BSS, Abu Taher said he has been campaigning door to door to transform the neglected Bogura-3 constituency into a modern and ideal area.
Highlighting his election promises, the Jamaat candidate said his party is committed to building a safe society free from corruption and extortion.
“If Jamaat-e-Islami gets the opportunity to form the government, we will focus on developing youth as skilled manpower instead of offering false hopes to the unemployed,” he said.
Abu Taher also pledged to end political discrimination in employment faced by educated youth in Adamdighi and Dupchanchia in the past.
He said special emphasis would be given to the development of agriculture and cottage industries, alongside maintaining social harmony through the renovation of mosques, madrasas and temples.
Regarding the electoral code of conduct, Abu Taher said strict instructions have been given to party leaders and activists to comply fully with election rules.
“Discipline is our identity. We have instructed our workers to campaign peacefully and respect opponents. Respect for the law is the first step toward victory,” he added.
On the issue of the referendum and the July Charter, he said the sacrifices of the martyrs of the July Uprising must not go in vain.
He noted that Jamaat-e-Islami and its 10-party alliance have taken a position in favour of a ‘yes’ vote to ensure the legal foundation of the July Charter.
"Implementing this charter is a fight for our existence and for building a new, just Bangladesh,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for February 12, Abu Taher said people are eager for change and have regained their voting rights after a long struggle.
“If voters can cast their ballots without fear, InshaAllah the victory of the ‘Daripalla’ symbol is assured in this constituency,” he said, adding that his party seeks unity, not division, in building Bogura.
The Bogura-3 constituency comprises Adamdighi and Dupchanchia upazilas.
Four candidates are contesting the seat: BNP’s Md Abdul Mohit Talukder (Sheaf of Paddy), Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nur Mohammad Abu Taher (Scale), Jatiya Party’s Md Shahinul Islam (Plough), and Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Md Shahjahan Ali Talukder (Hnad Fan).
According to Election Commission, the constituency has a total of 339,181 voters, including 169,831 women, 169,347 men, and three third-gender voters.
There are 118 polling stations across the constituency.
